Call the council as they have some activities that are free or very inexpensive in the area over the summer - also there will be charity based events - plus parks........... some gallery's & exhibitions are free - modern art to gardens - row boast are cool & cheap ... might aslo be some FREE summer music festivals at parks - loo on the internet or metro/time out / evening standard

Take them to a museum, or an aquarium / sea life centre. If you have to pay admission its usually voluntary, or nominal.
