No! Israel was justified and well within its rights to attack terrorists...the fact they are in Lebanon is unfortunate but true. In 2001 the U.N. which loves hate groups like Hezbollah declared them a terrorist organization and told Lebanon to disarm them...to gutless to do it themselves.
Not attacking them only benefits hate filled murdering terrorists where ever they hide amongst women and children. Ask your teacher why they are for that?

Ok, with 20/20 hindsight only... just theoretically.
Although Israel were not the instigators of this horrible last month, they certainly were the most distructive in the end. Hezbollah and other interested parties in the mid - east have successfully used the media to "win the war" (if you call having much of the country levelled and a half million innocents displaced from their homes and livlihoods 'winning'). Rogue countries now know how to defeat Israel. Put Israel in the position where they have no choice but to go after the evil ones who hide amongst babies in order to have childrens blood splattered all over the morning papers the next morning. The terrorists don't care who die since they consider any death like this martyrdom..so they get international support and Israel is painted as the destructors and infiltrators. So Hezbollah now claims victory....which is very strange. Israel had so much pressure put on them that they had no choice but to stop their campaign. Israel would have no problem whatsoever turning both Lebanon and Syria into glass if they so wished...but, aside from the fact that they would never do that, in this day and age wars are won and lost on the nightly news and in the newspapers. If Israel had decided to NOT attack Lebanon because of the two soldiers, then the international pressure may have been on Hezbollah, who would've remained in much of the world's mind as the bloody killers and terrorists that they are.
Good question.. sounds like an interesting class. Keep it up!

for attacking lebanon it is a false question because at the very begining of the war israel admit that it is main aim is to stop crawling of hezbollah so israel merely attack hezbollah that start attacing that is the main goal of israel to hit hezbollah.
but, look at what is going out there childrens die, children with no home or children with no parents,NOT JUST LOSSES FOR LEBANON BUT FOR ISRAEL AS WELL.
IT IS A HUMANITY DISASTER OUT THERE.
For benefits of not attacking that israel can get from the arabian world:
-first ,end the new unliking feeling towards israel.
-secondly, stop economic and social losses on both sides of the conflict.
for benefits of not attacking of any country on other is that money and official care spent on preparing for wars could be used to ensure a better life for the citizens and that is the main political goal for any country
BUT-if you are really interested - why Mr saniora not to stop hezbollah if he wants that war to come to an end?

I agree Israel shouldn't have attacked Lebanon because its excuse was Lebanon toke two prisoners of war while it has 10,000 Lebanese prisoners of war in its jails. Also i agree it should withdraw from all the Palestinian, Syrian, Egyptian and Lebanese territories it had occupied!! If it is serious about peace and cares for the safety of its citizens. However, i believe the reason it doesn't want to withdraw from those territories even though the UN had asked them hundreds of times to do so, is that Israels a blood thirsty nation and war satisfies that thirst. Sick i must say!!

No...Israel is right in attacking Lebanon...just because lebanon permits the existence of a terrorist organization in their country.. a terrorist organization that was founded primarily to eradicate Israel from the world map. As a sovereign State, lebanon should defend itself or allow the existence of the terrorists. if its the latter, then, israel should attack lebanon which was what actually happened.

The issues in the Middle East are very complicated, however the facts in this case indicate that Israel had no choice. Hezbollah is not a nation, it is a terrorist organization, bent on the destruction of Israel. It does not abide by the Geneva Convention, and is not held to the same standards as any nation would be. They provoked Israel by kidnapping and killing Israeli soldiers on sovereign Israeli territory. The first responsibility of any government is the protection of its citizens. Israel defended itself against aggression that Hezbollah began. Ironically, most of those killed by the daily firing of 200 missiles into Israel by Hezbollah, were Muslim Palestinians living in Israel. Yet there was not a single cry of indignation by the Muslim world of the loss of life of their brethren at the hands of Hezbollah.

Well, One benefit would be not having more world hatred placed upon Israel. Another would be lives spared, however, if you research the past 50 years, you might see why Israel did it anyway.
They are surrounded by countries who want them"wiped off of the map and pushed into the sea" So I think if I were in Israel, I might agree with their offensive tactics.

Hezbolla started it, and Lebanon allowed it to continue by letting Hezbolla fight in place of the Lebanese army. There were no calls for peace until Hezbolla was clearly losing.

I do consider "Who Cares". This situation has many colorations of gray. in many cases cases attempt to forged a black and white view of those subject concerns and say "it relatively is their fault!" is what perpetuates the situation. sure Hezbollah did strike first, as a result Israel has a top to look after itself. sure Israel is utilising intense stress on the 2d. there is obviously an time table here to do away with Hezbollah's militia ability. sure Hezbollah and Israel are persevering with to galvanize one yet another. as long as rockets shop landing in Israel, Israel will proceed their movements against Hezbollah and vice versa. Hezbollah is to blame via fact in case you throw stones, you are able to anticipate stones to be thrown back...and scary a ability military like Israel is basically inquiring for it. sure Israel is to blame via fact they surely galvanize by movements against Palastine and rules in the direction of the middle east. they are the two to blame for the shortcoming of harmless existence and the violence.
