Can anyone tell me about this idea and book? A friend mentioned this "Flying Spagetti Monster" idea to me and I had no idea what she was talking about??

The Flying Spaghetti Monster is a response to recent attempts to push 'intelligent design' into school curriculums. Most scientists view I.D. as simply creationism dressed up as science. Its advocates claim it is a 'theory' not based on religion and should therefor get taught alongside evolution.
In response, a group of Biologists stated they believed the evidence is most adequately explained by the theory that life was created by 'The Flying Spaghetti Monster' who reached down his noodley appendage and created life on earth. They insist that if schoolboards are going to teach intelligent design, a 'theory' with no supporting evidence, then they should also teach the spaghetti monster theory.
