My boyfriend has trouble/or doesnt even say i love you or anything nice to me when im around his mates, mainly because he doesn't want to get 'ripped' on.

Yes it's normal because men are always tryign to play that macho role. Now if he's a little older he needs to place his priorities in order, because they can't do for him what you can. Eventually that crap gets old and there will be a man you'll come across that is fully grown and he can express himself in any situation and around anyone. Play his game, stop giving him that type of affection around his friends and even when it's just you two. First he'll think something is wrong with you then his mind will start making him seek other reasons to why your acting this way. That macho crap is why so many men are humg up on their past relationships, because they realize what they did wrong.

most guys dont wont to seem like there a punk in front of their friends it makes them look weak. this is what i have been told by guye. but the way i see it if he cant treat me in public the way he treats me behind close doors then we dont need to be together

That's pretty spot-on for guys that age; you can get used to it or move on and let him grow up - he's still pretty green.
