yeah, and I lived way out in the country. It was the longest trip ever. There was always that nasty boy that was mean to everyone, the fat girl that smelled, and the nerdy boy that would bug you to death.

Yes, living out in the country, I had an hour ride on the school bus each way. Although I did not usually get into trouble, I did try to start trouble with the bus driver when no one else had the courage. We all tried to jam ourselves to the back of the bus often fighting for the last seat. It was the longest hour you can ever imagine. The problem was the drivers body odor. Extremely foul. We often left a bar of soap for him on his drivers seat, the dash and so on. Some of us finally got together and refused to take the bus anymore until he either washed on a daily basis, or the bus driver was changed.

Yes, but it gave time for extra sleep. I also had to ride an extra hour or more. It was really horrible when the girl that was assigned to the seat behind me, would start sing to along with the radio while I was trying to get my homework done, because she had no singing voice to speak of and did not know the words. Another time there was a little annoying guy behind me that would tug on my hair, then look innocent. He got his though. I was thankful one morning when the bus didn't show up. The driver thought he could outrun the train and it hit the bus. The only one that got hurt was his son. I'm glad those days are behind me.

I did have to ride the bus, but I was the opposite - last one on and first one off. It seemed like there was never an available seat in the mornings though. I got out of the afternoon trips most of the time by being on the cross country, basketball, and track teams. That helped!

Only to elementary school, and I was the second one on and the last one off. Then they made budget cuts in the school system (ie money went to football instead of transportation and books) and parents had to start paying bus fares.

I did until I got a car. Always loved sitting in the back so when the bus hit a bump we flew up in the air, sometimes hitting the ceiling! Now that I think about it, how unsafe! lol
