The effect of the moon's gravity is what is responsible for keeping the earths rotation stable, as well as regulating the tides. So assumably, without it there would be many natural disasters, floods etc.
There is a theory that aliens actually created and placed the moon in orbit around the earth to encourage life to evolve on this planet, as it seems less likely it would have without the moon...

If the Moon was stolen by aliens: In order of events.
1.Weather and tide paters would change dramatically.
2.The change in the gravitational forces would put earth out of orbit around the sun and around its axis... with cataclysmic results...
3.There would be heavy volcanic activity.
4.Earth as we know it will not exist any more.

The end of the world. The tides would be screwed and countless natural disasters would occur.

It would stop the tides, and APPARENTLY would cause the worlds biggest natural disasters and practically destroy the earth.

Stephen Baxter wrote a novel about that... I think it was "Manifold Space."
But seriously ( NOT! ) I suppose they could bank it into the corner pocket (knock it out of earth orbit) with another object from deep space.
