hoping someone may be able to help: am on DSL - has been good - friends of the daughter connected radio access - DWL-900AP+ wireless access point (2.4GHZ)+ netgear fast ethernet switch to run 2 x notebooks in household. Connection now back at dial-up speed or worse!

Have you scanned your pc coz I suspect you're having lotsa spywares. Run ad-aware, spyware blaster etc..

Maybe you got too much programs installed too. Try to lessen the icons on your desktop.

PS: Best to call your Internet Service Provider for technical assistance. It could be your set up too. But I still suspect the spywares.

There are a lot of facts that slows the Internet speed. Is clear that you use a good computer so this isn't the cause. Things that can slow your Internet speed are: spy-wares, viruses, (from time to time is recommended that you reinstall your operating system). Other causes can come from the Internet provider... There are hundred things that can cause a Internet connection work slow.

- Check Hardware (Cable? In Range?)
- Check if you get duplicate replies on ping by typing "ping 134.155.50.52" on the command line.
- Check if you router has a "good" internet connection in terms of login to the browser and try to ping from there.
- Check if your nameserver is set correctly on the client PC (you might get all settings from the router)
- Is your Firewall very complex? If so, try to remove some rules.

Try powering off the dlw-900ap wait 15 seconds before turning it back on. This would be the first step I would take.

defragment, do a spyware check, disk cleanup, virus scan, get rid of un needed programs.
