YES! I'm sorry, but so many people don't warn others of the terrors of pregnancy! I was sick for the first 4 months, throwing up 5 times a day. Even the word "chicken" would've made me puke. Being emotional is absolutely normal! Your hormones are changing, think of it as constant PMS. Dreams become much more realistic. I enjoy that for the most part, but I sometimes wake up crying or upset because they seem so real. Everyones pregnancy is different, and every pregnancy you have will be different. Hang in there, the results are worth the torture! It helps if the people around you understand all the changes you have to go through so they can help you get through it.

Note - I'm not a doctor or a professional authorized to give medical advice. I'm just a father.

The jumping in your sleep could just be a phase that you are going through, which you might have gone through even if you weren't pregnant.

The crying for no reason is absolutely normal, pregnancy affects people in many different ways and right now your hormones are all over the place, don't worry about the crying.

The fact that you can't stand chicken is also normal, many women find that they loathe food they previously loved and also the reverse can happen. My wife, before getting pregnant hated celery, but during her pregnancy she went though a phase of eating nothing but celery!!.

If you have serious concerns about any of the things you mention, then to put your mind at rest, you should visit your OB/GYN.
Above and beyond anything else, enjoy your pregnancy, it should be a magical time for you.

Some women in their first trimester have difficulty sleeping because of nervousness and also the need to pee so often. You may also have weird dreams during your pregnancy and don't let them scare you, its normal. The sight of many foods or the smell of them made me sick throughout my first 4 months of pregnancy, then it got better but for some reason throught my pregnancy I could not stand salads ( I ate steamed veggies instead). So just find an alternative food that will have the same nutritional value as the one you can't handle right now... ANd yes the hormones can make you cry often, don't worry, it will get better. If it doesn't tell your obstetritian so she can be in the alert. Some women are more at risk of afterbirth depression and its better if you are being motinored.

Absolutely normal. Just know that it will pass. Knowing that should help you relax and bit. If you need to cry, then cry. Usually you feel better after just letting it out, and you can usually laugh about it right after, because you know what you were crying about was really nothing. It's a good stress reliever in early pregnancy. As for the chicken, this may last through the pregnancy or end shortly. Just tell everyone if they want chicken, they had better go to KFC, because there won't be any in the house! LOL

From what I've experienced, waking up more (sleeping patterns changing) while you're pregnant seems to be pretty common. I wonder if it's some kind of preparation for those 3am feedings? I couldn't even talk about eggs, or I would be running to the bathroom during my first pregnancy. During one of them, I couldn't even drink coffee. I have 4 kids and each pregnancy was a little different from the next. Sounds to me like you're on the right track, emotions and all.
(I'm not sure about the jumping up in the night, maybe nightmares, or stress???)

I stopped eating chicken soup 22 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter. That's normal.
All the emotional crap is normal too. The sleeping thing I'm not sure about. Sounds to me like you're letting yourself get too tired. That might be connected to the emotional thing. Try taking naps in the afternoon and getting a little more exercise during the day. Walking is great and the fresh air will be good for you.

It's very common. I am at 16 weeks and I can't stand the sight/ smell of fish ( especially tuna) Being emotinal is also very common....
Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting" by Heidi Murkoff. It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!

All that seems normal. I noticed I have more bad dreams since being pregnant. The emotional thing is normal.. and for the chicken, I have the same problem with Fajitas and eggs, so dont worry, its all hormonal.

Jumping awake is probably just your nerves. You may be having dreams that scare you and you wake yourself up this way. I was very emotional while pregnant, and the smell of certain foods got me going. Like barbeque, I couldn't be around it. I cried alot about stupid things, just chalk it up to the hormones. They do crazy things to your mind and body.

Congrats on the baby!!
