You should shove a hot poker up his anus. That'll learn him.
It worked for the Spanish Inquisition.

Pull an Avada Kedavra on his little butt. Then you won't have to worry about him reading Harry Potter (or anything else, for that matter) ever again. If he's a smart boy, he'll pull an Expecto Patronum on you, and block your death spell. Tsk tsk. Should have read the books too, so you could be as good a wizard as he.

he is going to do what he wants anyway, this is a world that is full of crap everywhere, and i think that if he does a few things that u dont approve of, it wont kill u will it, he is your son, u should love him anyway and not think of how to punish him 4 a book , lets face the fact that he could b doing something 20 times as bad that u dont even no of, so dont worrie about a book, your standards are great but in the long run it will only make him want to leave, hes going through a stage that he needs to fit in with his mates, and this can b very hard, so come on let him read a book, i dont think he will want to go out the next day with his mates and say hey guys lets go 4 a fly lol if harry can do it so can we . sorry if u think im being rude but im not

Harry Potter is the savior of all children in the reading department. They have gone from reading little books with large print to big books with small print. You should approve these books and buy him hard copies of all the books. I bought two each for my now 12 year old grandson and we read them out loud together. He is the top of his 7th grade class and has taken the SAT test. He scored about middle of high school seniors going to college. Reading is the answer and the door to a successful future.

I truly believe you are dealing with two VERY separate issues here. Let me come at this from two different points of view.
First, as a parent - If your son is disobeying your rules, whatever they may be, that is deserving of punishment. I would, however, suggest that it not be about Harry Potter so much as about the disobedience.
Second, as a Christian - After MUCH review of the topic, I am of the belief that the Harry Potter books are not necessarily "evil". In fact, I believe that they are no more harmful than, say, Star Wars books. They are a fantastic tool to share Christ with a child if used in the right way. Try a different example - the rock band KISS is not Satanic in and of itself (I was a card carrying member of the KISS Army for 19 years so I know of what I speak). However, Satan ended up using KISS to get thru to me and I ended up worshipping at his altar for those 19 years rather than accepting Christ.
Make sense.

No, you shouldn't punish him. Harry Potter is great....it teach's different things. The movies are great. And it isn't even real witchcraft..and if your worried about books and movies like that...The movie The Craft is the closest thing that you would get to accuall witchcraft that i know of!

Why would you punish a 14 yr. old boy for reading a very good book ! Think about it , wouldn't you rather have him reading than out running the streets getting into trouble ! There is nothing wrong with what he is doing ! My God ! I think you have a problem here , and it's not your son !!!!!!

Make him read this website, so he can get an understanding of how to interpret Harry Potter from a Christian perspective.

"Who knows where this could end."
Well, quite. You're in extreme danger of your son turning out to be a well-rounded and level-headed individual; quick, you'd better come down on him like a tonne of bibles before that could happen.
The next think you know, he'll be smiling or even laughing. No way should he be allowed to enjoy the richness of the cultures of the world; shut him away from the outside world at once and ensure he never gets to know just how big the world is.
Seriously, catch yourself on; your far too small-minded to be a parent.

omg, there is nothing wrong with those Harry Potter books and they are not evil. Its a story!! He should be moderated to an extent, but as strict as you sound, he'll wind up being gay! Ease up on the kid, let him live life and be a kid!!

Whatever you have against Harry Potter, let him read it & then discuss with him why you don't want him to read it. But really what is it that you don't like about Harry Potter it's fiction after all?!
