I came off the depo injection about 4 weeks ago as I have to have an operation in a couple of months and was told the depo may interfer with it. My question is has anyone had reversed side effects? I have been on the depo for about 7 years and have suffered with acne and bad headaches. Not sure if it was depo causing the probs or not but since coming off it my skin has cleared up although I still get headaches at the moment. Has anyone had a simalar problem? Wondering if its been the depo causing these problems over the years?

More than likely it was the Depo causing the problems. My ex-boss had to come off Depo because it was causing her to go into early menopause! That injection is EVIL I would never go back on it if I were you. The patch is much safer if you can´t remember to take pills.

I was on Depo for several years. It was the cause of many headaches for me. I also gained a lot of weight. After coming off of it, the headaches quit and the weight started coming off. It took about 6 months for my body to even start to get back to normal. Those shots have a lot of hormones. It very well could be the cause of your acne. After your surgery, you might want to talk to your OB-GYN before going back to the shot. They have made great strides in birth control and there are other methods that are not taken often that deliver the amount of hormones that the Depo shot does. Good luck with surgery!

I was on Depo for several years. I gained a lot of weight and when I came off it, I lost 30 pounds in 2 months. I didn't have acne or headaches.

Personally I'd recommend you come off the injection and have an implant fitted- as soon as the implant is removed you become fertile straight away unlike the pill which might still stay in your system. Although the implant can be put in for a maximum of 3 years you can have it taken out at any point if you decide that 3 years is just too long to wait for a baby

I was on Depo for about 4 years. The only problems I had when I was on it was hair loss and weight loss. I also didnt get a period until 18 months after I was off.

My wife was on the depo years ago. while she was on it she gained about 20 pounds and had ocular migraines. When she stopped using it the weight came off and the migraines stopped. You should probably not go back on it after your surgery. There are much healthier ways than that injection.
