No teams have currently earned a playoff spot. The only team that is pretty much locked in, is the Mets, because they own a 13 game lead in their division.
But the teams that will earn a spot, are the 3 division winners from each league (AL & NL) along with the Non-Division winner with the best overall record gets the wild card.
If the season ended today, the following would be in:
Yankees
Detroit
Oakland
Chicago
Mets
Cardinals
Dodgers
Reds
Under that scenario, the 1st round matchups would be:
Yankees vs. WhiteSox
Detroit vs. Oakland
Mets vs. Reds
Cardinals vs. Dodgers

No one has earned a playoff spot yet....it's way too early and there are chases in almost every division. Here is my pridiction on the playoffs though with explanation.
The Tigers are probably going to win the al central with the 2nd place white sox winning the wildcard. the yankees are taking the east with oakland on top in the west. in the nl, the mets are pretty much locked in, the cardinals aren't going to hang on, but will get the wildcard....the reds are taking the central, with the dogers taking the west. So heres the bracket.
Tigers vs. White Sox - Sox win, they have 9-3 record over Detroit
Yankees vs. A's - Yankees win easily
Mets vs. Cardinals - Mets win
Dodgers vs. Reds - Reds win barely
Then in the LCS
White Sox vs. Yankees - Sox win, they are more complete
Mets vs. Reds - Mets win, also more complete
The Chicago White Sox are most likely to win it all again. They have the most complete team, with a very deep hitting lineup. Also, they have 6 pitchers worthy of getting playoff starts, with one of the best bullpens in the league. Also, arguably the best manager in the league. This is my prediction

Well in each conference, the teams that win their divisions make the playoffs. At this point those teams are: NY Yankees, DT Tigers, OAK A's, NY Mets, STL Cardinals, LA Dodgers. Also a wild card team makes it from each conference and those teams are: CHI Whitesox, CIN Reds. The wild card races are very close right now as are several divisional races. So it is hard to tell who will make it for sure.
