well A level is the Advanced diploma in computer science and its of minimum duration of 1 year so you will have to spean a year to somplete the A level dimploma then B level diploma is what is equivalent to MCA so wat u think that can u complete the MCA in just 1 year no dar its of 2 year and yes first 10 subjects out of 26 subjects in B level are same and common with A level but if u have done A level so u will not have to bother about those 10 subjects and they will b exempted for u but if u have done A level then u will have to give a gap of 1 year in between if u filling up as a direct candidate and u will have to gibe experience then but if u fill up through a institute then u wont have to waint and also u wont have to bother about the experience problem too........and if u want more answer then go to http://doeacc.org.........have a nice luck ahead for your diploma

I enclose a portion out of note taken from site:
http://www.educationbangalore.com/pages/8_computer/doeacc.htm

"Examination Level Eligibility Criteria Duration Career Prospects
`B' Level Basic Education Qualification required to do this course is pass in A-level exam or Government recognised Polytechnic Engineering Diploma or PPDCA, PGDCA or a Graduation
Eligibility for taking exams =
basic qualification plus
B-level course

Or
Candidates can even take exams without going for A level course. They are called as
Direct Candidates.

For them
Eligibility for taking exams =
Government recognised Polytechnic Engineering Diploma or Graduation Plus
Three year work experience in Information Technology industry.

Or
Government recognised
PPDCA or PGDCA Plus
Two year work experience in Information Technology industry.
There will exemption from some Subjects depending on the courses they have undergone.

Those who have passed A-level exams, are exempted from first two semisters. "

PLEASE NOTE THE LAST LINE.
What I could understand is
(i) Eligibility for taking exams (Level B) =
basic qualification plus
B-level course
(ii) Those who have passed A-level exams, are exempted from first two semisters.

You are right. it will be 2 years for persons who has already passedlevel 'A'

I trust matter is clear.

BEST OF LUCK
