I am a fan of his and have been searching for this book. I am told it is out of print. I even forget what I had heard what it was about...I recently finished "Harlot's Ghost" and loved it. Can anyone tell me more about "Belly of the Beast"? How I might get my hands on a copy?

If I remember correctly Belly of the Beast was a story of a convict in jail and the things he went through. Mailer was in close contact with many inmates and used their experiences for material in his books. At one time he used his influence to get a convict released only to have him commit another crime. Belly of the Beast was also mentioned in a book called Gladiator School by one of the Yablonski murders.Good luck on finding a copy. He may have co-authored the book.

I, too, am a Mailer fan and would like to read "Harlot's.." and "Belly.." and notice that neither responder, so far, mentioned the publisher.
I will take a chance - that it is the same one that published Mailer's first novel, "The Naked And The Dead" and intend to Google for it now. Good luck in your search.

Try Ebay.com or Amazon.com, I have found a few out of print books on both sites. I have also found some rare ones on Ebay. good Luck. I really hope you find your book. I am an advent reader and I know what it is like trying to find something that is not current.

Try ebay, Amazon.com, "used books" stores, garage / yard sales, flea markets, run an ad in newspaper(s), book conventions, book clubs. If you don't need to own it, try librarys. See the reference librarian for ordering it from a library which is a member of the consortium.
