Kinetic energy is energy of motion. Most of the time potential energy is converted to kinetic energy.As based on the term conservation of energy, energy cannot be destroyed. the equation is KE=1/2(mv^2)
m represents the mass in kg, v is the velocity m/s.

Kinetic energy is the energy of motion.
KE=(1/2)mv^2, meaning that the kinetic energy of an object is equal to the mass of that object times the square of its velocity. In many physical systems in which energy is conserved (i.e. not lost to heat), the sum of the kinetic energy and potential energy of the system remains constant. One is converted to the other through work, the exertion of force over a distance. In such cases, the change in kinetic energy of an object is equal to the dot product of the force exerted on the object and the displacement over which that force is exerted, or [delta]KE=F[dot]d. Of course, if the force is not constant, than that equation needs to be changed to integral form.
Like other forms of energy, the standard SI unit of kinetic energy is the joule.

Kinetic energy (SI unit: the joule) is energy that a body possesses as a result of its motion. It is formally defined as the work needed to accelerate a body from rest to its current velocity. Having gained this energy during its acceleration, the body maintains this kinetic energy unless its speed changes. Negative work of the same magnitude would be required to return the body to a state of rest from that velocity.

normal equation is 1/2m*v*v where m is the object's mass and v is the object's speed.

Kinetic energy is the energy possesed by an object by virtue of its motion. Like all forms of energy this is interconvertable to other forms of energy.
Suppose a body of mass m posseses a velocity of magnitude v then its kinetic energy is given as (mv^2)/2.
There are many cases of interconversion . For instance when friction is encountered by the moving body kinetic energy is converted to thermal energy. If we take bubbles in water (moving from bottom of water source to surface) potential energy is converted to kinetic energy.

The energy possessed by a body by the virtue of its motion is called Kinetic Energy.

In simple words, the energy present in a moving body is called kinetic energy.

Its equation is K.E. = 1/2 mv* { * = 2 }
= half mv square

where K.E.= kinetic energy
m = mass
v = velocity
