There was a show I watched last year called "The world's worst jobs", and they showed city sewage workers in N.Y.C.. Their job was to check the tunnels for breaks, rat population, bombs, etc..
They totally have my respect because there are very few people that can handle that job - myself included.

I'm not sure if this is what is called the "worse job in the world" but this comes pretty close to your description:I work in a Group Home and am classified as a Child Care Worker and the gist is children pulled out of their homes by CPS. These children are so full of hate and anger that nothing in life has ever come close to preparing me for what I have been going through. Daily you are called a "F****** B****",told how much they hate you, they run away from the Group Home and when they think its necessary, they tear the house up to shreds! The stress is totally unbelievable! I'm not thinking I can stay here for too much longer and have a whole new appreciation for how hard the job is for the other staff. It makes a person wonder how anyone can ever do this stuff on a daily basis for any length of time.

My worst job I ever had was driving a garbage truck for a pickle factory. I used to have to take all the garbage in a dump truck to the local landfill.

When I was deployed as a soldier I had to burn human feces, more than once. You have to stir it,like a big cauldron of disgusting soup in 130 degree weather. On the plus side, I learned that urine does NOT burn;it evaporates. It simply doesn't get worse..I hope.

The one which takes a lot out of you butt doesn't make you feel accomplished. And the one for which no one is grateful to you.
Something like the Electric Chair operator. Or historically, a Guillotine operator.
