First of all, if your car has an automatic transmission, you need to shift the gears before going uphill.

Your gear box more or less should look like this:

P - R - D - N - 2 - 1

Since you have and American make, then I presume that the gear shift is on the steering wheel. So, when you come to an uphill, take the cruise control off and place the gear on 2. If it's a really steep slope, then place it on 1. That should fix the problem. Once you get to level ground, place back on D and off you go.

By doing do this, you're avoiding burning out your transmission. A transmission can cost anywhere from $500 for a used to one, to about $2000-3000 for a new one. It depends where you get it.

Your second problem is that either your tires are out of balance, or you may have a problem with your drivetrain. First, go to any tire place and have them check the balance on your front tires. If that doesn't solve the problem, then it may be your wheel alignment, shock absorbers or may be it could be something a little more complicated.

My guess is that if it's happening at high speeds, it's probably unbalanced of worn out tires.

It's hard to say about the sputtering. You might try switching to a tankful of higher-grade gas to see if the sputtering is caused by your engine's knock sensor system. If you normally use regular (87 octane) gasoline, switch to mid-grade (89 octane). The problem could be that your engine is knocking as you go up the hill and the car's computer then retards the engine's timing to prevent the knocking. This can easily feel like "sputtering."

Otherwise, a good tuneup is always smart, especially if you can't remember when you last had one. Be sure to change the fuel and air filters, as well as the spark plugs. Consider also replacing the plug wires.

The first thing to check with shaking is an out-of-balance tire. It will cost only a few dollars to have it checked and corrected. Have both of your front tires done, just to be thorough.

The shake can be coming from a tire out of balance or a strut worn out,or maybe even the CV joint going bad. Also check the lug nuts to make sure they are tight. The sputtering can be caused by alot of things, bad gas, worn spark plugs, clogged fuel filter or air filter.Check those first,as they are the most inexpensive and easiest to change.

With cars with computers it can be many things. One thing that comes to mind is the flywheel timing sensor. Too large a gap in the plugs can cause it, bad wiring, etc. You can also buy a code reader, that may help you. If you take it to the shop they usually charge you $75, just to put the computer reading equuipment on your vehicle. Anyway, things like plugs, air filter and wires you can check your self. uphill indicates you live in a hilly area, you might try the next higher grade gas or maybe youre due for a tune up, spark plugs missing. wobble is alignment front end checked or you will screw up your tires and have to replace them and have the alignment taken care of too.

lot of things could be to blame. best thing to do is get to a good automotive shop and tell them about your problems. the problems sound separate. sputtering could be bad gas, bad carburation, bad spark plugs. the shaking sounds like a bearing or suspencion problem. none of these are terribly bad but don't wait. also ask about what to do to prevent recurrence.
