Motorola Razr phones and Sony Ericsson K series phones. My boyfriend has SE K610i and I have Razr v3x, both 3G phones with 2 MP cameras, and so far we have no complaints.

Motorola Razr phones are thin, stylish flip phones packed with various features including very high screen resolution and voice dialling without pre-recording. Sony Ericsson K series are small and slim yet have many features too, including a complete organizer with notes, tasks, alarms, calendar, etc that it's like a mini-PDA.

Here's my take on the three popular brands out there:

Nokia are known to be user friendly with their menu and interface, but their new designs are bulky, especially the ones with 3G capability - not so attractive.

Motorola are known for its design, especially with the successful Razr series which sold over 50 million units worldwide, but feature-wise it has something to boost too. The file manager and menu arrangement may not be as great as Nokia's but it has features not found in Nokia too. Actually range of features depend on the model. I'm a recent Motorola convert, buying Motorola v3x, my first non-Nokia phone ever.

Sony Ericcson - they produce small phones yet packed with features. K series are the small, lightweight (incredibly light) non-clamshell phones. This series also includes the new Cybershot phone. W series are the Walkman phones. Z series are the clamshell or flip phones. P series are the PDA phones. T and J series are the, well, sorta lower-end phones with all the practical features one needs, enough for calling and texting.

It's like this certain phones like the Motorola SLVR L7 and V3i have this 'sexy' factor, and the Nokia N91 looks cool enough too.
But I'd recommend the Motorola V3x(formerly v1150)

In terms of Sony Ericssons the k800i is da bomb, those Walkman phones do well too if you're a music buff.

This time round the Samsungs and LGs don't make a that good an impression.
Also don't be swayed so easily by these 3.2 MP camphones, the only really good one I've used is a Panasonic 3G model, some of the other 3.2MP cams are beaten by 2MP cams. But that 3.2MP Nokia I heard was pretty good though bulky with a weird sort of keyboard.

Sony Ericsson are doing great ones at the mo. If you want a phone that doubles as an mp3 player get the W810i - it's a wallkman/phone. If you want one that doubles as a camera then get the K800i - it's a cybershot camera/phone. Each has all the features - 3G, camera, mp3 player, radio, etc, but the first one has a really good music function and the second one has a 3.2megapixel camera built in.

There's one at Toys R Us by the bruin range that spins round and makes lots of lovely tunes! All for around 9.99, it's great. Even gets me to bed!
