Yep, that is a nuclear reactor. Current nuclear reactors are fission reactors, they split atomic nuclei. The goal is to build a fusion reactor--one where the nuclei are fused together. But, for the present the closest sustained fusion reaction process occurs approximately 93 million miles away--the Sun. It turns about 600 million tons of hydrogen into helium through fusion every second.
