I'd die for an end to your dull questions and answers.

That's a really good question which probably can't be answered with enough consideration in a paragraph. Martin Luther King's statement essentially makes certain assumptions about a shared consensus on the meaning of life, in that he tends to suggest life is a precious gift which should be honoured with courage and passion. Whereas some think that life has no higher meaning but is a mere accident of evolution.

Personally I would die for love. In that I mean I would die to save someone I loved, if their life was threatened. I can't decide if it is a good thing or a bad thing that most of us live in such a fractalized society that there is no one common enemy, or no one major inequality to fight; or opressor to overthrow; which could incite such passion in a cause as to merit the sacrifice of a life.

Yes, I agree with his quote, which is slightly different:

"If a man hasn't discovered something that he will die for, he isn't fit to live"

If you are my friend, my spouse, or my child, you can absolutely rely on me laying down my life for you , if required. Take that away from me, and I become a shell of a man, slinking in the shadows out of harm's way, until my ignoble death.

Everyone deserves to live, but such a life is not worth living, and I think that is the point that Dr. King was trying to make.

I think that he is wrong. I think somebody that doesn't have something to live for shouldn't live. But it is very easy to find something to live for (even if it is fear of death)

Is there anything I would die for?

No. I don't want to die, but I have the belief that existence doesn't end there. However, that doesn't mean that I want to find out exactly what happens, just yet. I'm having fun and enjoying life and so I would like to experience the entirity of human existence before getting the chance to find out what happens next.

The day I decide that it would be more fun to know what is in the next life is the day I don't deserve to live.

Deserving to live lies in the hands of God. I would leave that judgment to Him. As for what I would die for, my kids without a doubt, and I hope I'm never tested on this but I think I would die for Jesus in certain circumstances

I agree with MLK. I would die for any of my family or friends. Someone that doesn't have anything they would die for are too self-absorbed and will never realise what loving another person means emotionally, mentally and physically. They keep us strong, they're are there when we need them the most, they love us and they too would die for us so nothing can beat that feeling.

If you don't have something to die for, then you are done living.

My faith and love of my God, dictates I would do anything for him. Of course my kids and the rest of my family run a close 2nd & 3rd.
I wouldn't die for it, but I could sure use those 10 points!

No - there are plenty of people who live their lives not wanting to die for anything. Mr King was just a passionate activist, not everyone is like that.

Yes, I agree and I live for my family,
My family; first our sons, because their future is ahead of them, then my husband, who would do the same, then our extended family's youth, who are very dear to us. I cannot say that any of us are ready to die for Bush.
We live now, as all Americans do, in a time of chaos.Bombarded daily with man's inhumanity to man. With our country sharply divided and even neighbors in disagreement. That is exactly why , as a family, we are even closer.

I agree, as if you don't care about anything that much you probably won't have a life worth living in the first place.

Personally i'd die if it meant another would live.
