First of all take a deep breath. Better? Okay the absolute best thing you can do is scatter the entire place with ashes. It kills fleas. Then you vacuum everything up and get the frontline spray and put it all over the house. They will not even want to come near that house after that. You can also spray the frontline all around the house and even put salt around the house for extra protection. Bombs never work but do this and you will be fine. I lived in the country when animals are all infested by hundreds of fleas and the frontline and ashes work. Trust me on this one. Seven dust can help but it is toxic. Thats why I use the others. Not harmful to animals ect.

It is difficult to rid a house of fleas. Here is the process you must follow. Dust everything in the house with Sevin, a pesticide. Dust the areas adjacent to the doors outside as well. Wait one week and dust again. Wait one more week and give it a final dusting.
Fleas hatch from eggs and your bombs are probably killing many of the adults only to have more hatch out. Fleas will live in a vacant home for two years, feeding on dry skin flakes that fall off of animals and humans.
If there is any upholstered furniture then vacuum it after each dusting. Empty the cleaner bag in an outside refuse container.
Meticulous cleaning will also help eliminate the fleas, as the cleaning will remove their food sources.

The key to ridding yourself of fleas is to break the reproductive cycle. Try bombing for two weeks about every 3 to 4 days and you should catch the majority of them before they can reproduce. Make sure the house is well sealed and the AC system is turned off.

Try bombing after the carpets are out-like someone else said. And try the bleach water and if all else fails try the Orkon guy.
And then from now on maybe tell your new tenants no animals 'cept for fins and feathers. And no big aquariums since they may break and ruin the new carpet..Good luck
