I think it's their big pointy ears, little pointy snouts, bushy tails, and nice fur. They have a cute way of moving. They trot or dart around. Have you noticed that ugly animals usually have an ugly way of moving? Look at the way spiders creep around (especially the long-legged ones, when they lift those long skinny legs to take a step) or the way sloths slowly drag around. Ew. Also, foxes don't have any features that look dangerous to us, like huge teeth or claws. Also, I've never seen any with flies crawling on them or anything gross like that, the way you often see cows or other bigger, uglier animals.

Because they resemble the most domisticated animals most people have: cats and dogs. They are quick and very nimble. They are also smart.
