The rich white kids see all the B.S. of their social class and want something real. They think if they act that away then they're getting to something closer to being real and not fake. With the poor kids they think if they can surround them selves status symbols of the rich then that's one step closer to a better life then what they have. At least that's my opinion.

Its a case of wanting to be something other than what they actually are. In many ways, particularly to teenagers, the other side always seems to be more rosey. This is a way of shrugging off expectations and not behaving the way it is beleived that they should.

Because everyone, especially teenagers, loves to be something they're not because it makes them feel secure. It makes them feel a part of something even if that something is a stereotype. I know you shouldn't stereotype but everyone does it. You're doing it now, its just natural instinct. Belong to a stereotype and to be honest the fear of stereotyping vanishes because people already know your stereotype.
