Go to www.yahoo.com. While you are on that page, click on file, send, shortcut to desktop.

You can also, like that first answer, Make the browser window small enough to see the desktop, then drag the image next to the URL in the address bar onto the desktop. This also creates a shortcut. (you can do the same with your bookmarks by dragging this icon up to the bookmarks menu option and dropping it where you want)

Whever you have stored it just drag on onto your desktop or right-click the icon of yahoo where you have stored and then click SEND TO --Desktop(Create Shortcut)

Why not simply set it as your home page and click on the Internet Explorer icon?

Your best bet is to set your home page on your browser to yahoo.com
To do this, click 'Tools' on your browser, select 'options' and then 'general'. There you will find a place that you can enter in a URL for the page that you wish to be your home page, which will be http://www.yahoo.com
