You should not leave a tampax in for more than 8 hours but if you have a heavy flow then less time would be more apropriate. Also it depends on the obsorbancy of the tampax. The lighter the less time it should be in. Use the lowest possible absorbancy tampax because taking out a dry tampon can leave some particals of the tampon inside you and cause TSS(toxic shock syndrome). If you do need to take out a dry tampon then go into your bathtub(filled with water) and take it out there, it is safer. Do not gradually leave it in longer. No more than 8 hours! You will start smelling like blood if it stays in too long! Good Luck!

the box says 8 hours.... i may leave mine in for 12 hours only when i don't have another tampax handy. if you leave your tampax in for too long all the time or you use the super all the time you can get TSS (toxic shock syndrome) which can cause death. but read the box the next time before you use a tampax and if you through the box away go online and read the material they have there. this question you are asking, every woman that uses tampax should know the answer!!

The maximum amount of time you can leave a tampon in is about 7 or 8 hours, but i know from experience that if you sleep with it in and you take it out in the morning nothing will happen but only if its for like 8 or so hours. If you leave a tampon inside of you for more than 8 hours, you run the risk of getting Toxic Shock Sydrome. You can read all of this information on the paper inside the box of tampons that you use. I hope this helps.

It is recommended that you change them every 4 to 6 hours. I don't go more than 4 to 5 hours without changing. If you leave it in for long periods you run the risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome. It is not worth it, change them often to be safe.

I would say 6 hours, because if you leave it in longer, you might not get a chance to take it out or maybe you'll get caught up in something and forget about it. And if you leave it in too long, you pose the risk of being affected by Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS). I don't think you would want to run that risk.

can go into toxic shock I believe - not hygienic to leave one in there any longer than necessary - maximum is about 6-8 hours, but as a rule, just change it everytime you go to the toilet.

if your sleeping longer - why not try a pad instead of a tampon - then at least you wont need to worry

It depends on the rate of flow.Heavy flow means you cant leave it in there long. The opposite is true for mild flow. The average is 8-10 hours(mild flow) and 4-7 hours for heavy flow. The maximum i know is about 14 hours.Leaving it in longer will plug/restrain the flow, allowing it to decompose inside you. This could lead to serious Uterine infections.

First of all it says on the pakage you buy how long is acceptable to leave it in. You must worry about TSS if you leave it in longer than a few hours or barely over. Not to mention the embarrassment if you get a leak. I suggest you read all the info on the carton before you get TSS.

Usually that depends from female to female and how heavy the menstruations are. For instance on my second day I have to remove it every 2 hours and from the third day on it stays there for up to eight hours, if I remove it before the eight hours are up it's somehow stuck and it's difficult to get it out. But to answer your question, it should not be in for half a day, then it's not healthy, at all.

No longer than 8 hrs. Leaving a tampon in place longer could cause toxic shock syndrome.
