Yes, I am circumcised and have been since birth.

Yes, it does reduce sensations some, but not enough to make a significant difference considering the benefits of being circumcised.

If your baby is getting infections under the foreskin then he will probably be plagued with that problem for the rest of his life. He is at an age now where being circumcised would be a procedure that will cause him minimal discomfort compared to what it would be like if he were an adult and have to have it done.

Be good to your child and have it done. I'm glad my parents did.

Good luck.

Perhaps you've been going about the care of his foreskin all wrong? If you're trying to pull it back to wash underneath, don't. Sometimes you can't pull it back until puberty or later, and if you do it can cause problems such as adhesions and infections. Bubble baths and strong soaps have also been known to irritate the foreskin of some people, making it red and sore. You may try bathing him with unscented soap or perhaps just water.

Take him to the doctor as he may need antibiotics or creams for that region. I don't think he needs a circumcision just yet. Have these infections been ongoing for years and have they been severe? I'd try the above, and if in a year or so still doesn't work, you might consider circumcision as an option. Note that there are varying degrees of circumcision, where a partial circumcision will probably eliminate the problem but allow him to keep most of his foreskin and have it function, it'll just be shorter than it is now.

PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT DO THAT!!! That is a ridiculous archaeic practice that should be banned-I realize he's three-you and he will just have to wash that area more carefully-the hood around your clitoris is the same thing and no one is proposing you remove it and the vagina collects a lot more debris for obvious reasons. Hygiene is the key-there can be problems with a circumcision but besides that this is an EXTERNAL part of one's body-if it wasn't supposed to be there, God wouldn't have put it there-despite anyone's view or opinion of circumcision in the Bible-beside on religious grounds, that was in the old Testament for Jews only and is gone now because of the crucifixtion. Anyhow, I was circumcised as a baby and had no say about what was done to my body and have had problems and wish it never happened and would never circumcise my children. That is the most sensitive area in the body so I am sure sensations were lost.

Please don`t do that to him. Foreskin is a natural part of the penis so there is no need to cut it off. Circumcising is an ancient practice. In those times where water and hygiene were limited it was practiced to keep the penis clean and to avoid infections. In our modern times this is not necessary, since we have the possibility to keep ourselves clean by taking showers and so on. The main thing is that while he is small, you have to clean his penis by pulling the skin back during bathing. (don't put soap on it since it`ll dry the skin out ). When he gets a bit older he`ll get used to this, and he`ll do it himself. It is good to keep the foreskin because it protects the head of the penis and keeps it more sensitive. Cut penises are less sensitive. O by the way I`m uncircumcised. Might sound like a hassle, but it`s worth it.

Here's a fact for you from my doctor:
Communities that practice circumcision have an incredibly low rate of cervical cancer, not just a small difference, but something like a 98.5% difference (ie 98.5% of women who contracted, their blokes were un-circumsized)
People always bark on about whats right and wrong, but when it comes down to it, it's healthy.
I don't have any negative effects from a late circumcision.

do it now.... when he starts to really grow and the problem becomes more of an issue the risks grow. it is easier to deal with the pain of the nip then the repeated infections that can cause serious health issues..its a safe procedure and there are limited risks but your doctor will explain it all to you......
