I don't mean to crush anyone's answers here but unfortunately no one has got it right so far.
The correct spelling is "skwiza" which sounds like "squeeza".
Originally it means "my brother's wife".
It still holds the same meaning, but today with more flexibility.
For instance today it can be used as referrence to "my brother's girlfriend", "my best friend's girl friend", or even "my cousin's girl friend".
You never refer to your partner as "skwiza", not unless you meant "squeeza" lol. That's why the friends of your boyfriend call you "skwiza", it should make sense if they don't squeeze you in anyway.
This term is mostly used in KwaZulu-Natal.
I hope this helped.

Howzit Kim?

confused is right. It means "lover" or "the one I cuddle". And many different races in SA use it. Luister net na die Pretorianers. Hulle almal praat van hulle se squeeze. Black, white, green, yellow and brown. I didn't use it. I used "my doll". At University I used to say "my cherry".Do you know where those came from?

Porgie out!

lol, I'm white, my fiancee is filipina, and now you just gave me a new thing to call her.. Thank you.

Squeeza sounds like, "someone you squeeze close to you". And that sounds like a wonderful thing to call someone you are passionately in love with.

But the real definition is "a close personal friend" see the Urban Dictionary at http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=squeeza

My uncle ALWAYS call his girlfriend that!! I always thought it had to do something with being called a maid,...a white maid who'll clean and cook and bake a cake!! But Porgie's answer sounds more true!!

wow, that one is new for me. I've heard of shorty, ma'ma, bee. I guess it depends on the person. I don't think race has too much to do with it.

It is township slang (tsotsi taal) for girlfriend/lover - basically referring to someone you squeeze, cuddle, etc (use your imagination...!).

The term "main squeeze" is also used to indicate close friendship - referring to "my bra, my main squeeze".
