I don't give money to bums. They have a 'racket' going of living off others, like a tick. I will not contribute to that.

It should be mandatory that as the richest country in the world we create an adequate welfare system so that people don't end up homeless in the first place. All our tax dollars disappear into pointless government agencies and into the war we should not be fighting. This money could stay at home and go to some good use here.

If it were mandatory half the population would be out there begging. It may or may not be their fault that they are homeless, but it is their fault they stay that way ( except of course those with mental problems) Helping them should be an individual choice.

Get thee to a third world country to see how the other 3/4 of the planet earth lives. After living in Latin America for many years I know the look of starvation. If a begger doesn't have 'the look', they don't get a thing from me except encouragement.

NO-TOTALLY DISAGREE-IT IS HIS FAULT-there are shelters for these people-many choose not to go there for various reasons-have spent time w/ people that are homeless-many don't want work and just want to drink or do drugs-you should have the option to decide if someone is just having a rough patch or is trying to con you-have been down and oput myself so think helping others is great but some people are cons and know i have been scammed-i usually do help when asked but it's my choice.

If feel the person is really destitute like maybe really old and has injuries then you should. But there is no point in giving money to little children because it encourages the habit. You can buy little children food to eat or some decent clothes or some basics like that. As for those who are young and are jobless ,I think you should help them find a job in your neighbourhood but don't give them money to buy drugs because thats what a lot of them do

nope no definately not not a chance. Don't you realise many use it for drugs or drink.. I am not saying that I don't help. If asked for help I always offer to take them into a restaurant for a meal and if necessary have paid for a night at a men's womans shelter. But I refuse to have my hard earned money go directly to helping someone lead a destructive life. I also donate to food banks and shelters I consider this a much better use of my money

No way--not everyone who poses as a homeless person really is. There have been too many times when a person has pulled out his or her money to give when the person has pulled out a knife or gun and demanded all of it, or killed the person for it. I don't approach strangers--it could be too dangerous.

agreed. as long as we cut all the aid programs for homeless people. I don't mind caring for my fellow man, as long as we keep the government's greedy paws out of the process. me giving 10 bucks to someone goes a lot farther than the 10 spot taken out of my check for a failing program that is supposed to help this guy.

It shouldn't be mandatory since not all of them are really poor and will use the money to good use. It's best to think like they are someone of a normal status and think of what you'd do then.
