Depends on the genre of the documentary and your social status. If you are a professional and the documentary makers are seeking your expert opinion, you wouldn't want to wear a singlet and air your armpits on telly, do you? Think how you wish the public to view you and then dress appropriately.

Depends on what type of documentary; and how are the others appearing on the show dressing? Is it about farming, or will you be filmed in an office? Makes a definite difference in how you present yourself. Just dress appropriately for the situation and you'll be fine.

It depends what the documentary is about...if it is Professional related, make sure you are in your best suit ! If it is about lifestyle or just your opinions, then the dressed down look will ensure that you dont get slated by your friends for trying too hard....a pair of jeans would be best....maybe just to make you feel like you have made the effort, go out and buy yourself a new top - just dont wear something that you normally wouldnt because it may make you look uncomfortable and act unnaturally.- Good luck.

depends completly on the documentry. If you are working with a Regular director he will give you a list of " prefered clothing" ot they will have a wardrobe person there ( Yes even in documentrys ) but the general rule if it is a lite subject matter dress up if it is dark subject dress down as not to disrupt the mood of the piece. BTW I have done a lot of TV , Movies and documentry things ( just did the making of the Bell whitch a while back)

Boy that's general. If you are the main attraction of course you'll want to look presentable. If you are just one of the group, it won't matter as much. If the reason you or others were picked for this is because of who you already are, then you would be destroying the film by dressing like someone you are not. So I agree you should try to be yourself.

Depends on what sort of documentary you're doing. If it's about life in the jungle, you'll look funny in a nice suit.
I'd say dress up otherwise.

Dress professionally but unobtrusively. Also, no stripes or anything else that looks bad on TV. If you have any questions, ask the documentary's producer.

Dress normally as you would when you go to meet your friends: the TV people may have some advice to give you as well. Good luck with the show, and, many more!

If the program was finished and you wee watching it, would you rather say...
"Wow, I overdressed for that, but Iook nice"
or
"Wow, I should have dressed better, I look like crap!"
You're always safer to overdress. At least wear a tie and jacket. You can always take the jacket off.

Dress appropriately for whatever it's about. If it's about your career as a drag artist (I'm not saying you ARE a drag artist you understand!) then they may not want you in jeans and a t-shirt. If it's about bank fraud or the penal system them a tuxedo might be OTT. Have fun whatever :0)
