You can still do a shut down by doing a crtl+alt+delete and selecting the shut down button at the bottom of the window that appears.

But, as far as getting the task bar back...
You either hide the bar, or shrunk the bar.

Try moving your cursor down to where the bar normally is and see if it reappears. If so, the bar is on autohide. When it reappears, right-click on it, select properties, go to the Taskbar tab and uncheck the autohide box

If it does not reappear, then you accidently shrunk it. It is there, it is just that it is only about 2 pixel in height. If you move the cursor to the very bottom of the screen, it will hopefully change to the double-arrow cursor. You should then be able to hold down the mouse button and drag the double arrow up, and pull the taskbar back up with it.

Once you get the bar back, right-click on it, select properties, under the Taskbar tab check the "lock the taskbar" box. This will prevent you from accidently shrinking, moving, or hiding it in the future.

Maybe your taskbar is set to auto-hide??
- Then you can see a small line at the bottom of the screen!!

Alt+F4 will shut down your computer..

Of you can try the start button on your keyboard.. if you have one.. :)

Last tip: Ctrl+Alt+Delete will bring up the task manager.. It's an option there to shut down your computer!!

I know two ways.

1- press ctrl+alt+del then a window will appear. Go to the Shutdown menu and click on Turn off.

2- press your the Windows logo which is in your Keyboard then press two times the Letter U. Your computer will be safely shutdown.

Good Luck!!!!

If you are using XP then hit ++

You will get some options, either select shutdown or task manager. In task manager, select the Applications tab and then 'New Task...' type explorer in the box and you task bar should return.

This happened to me now and back, i'm getting an blunders with explorer.exe which gets rid of the taskbar if it shuts down. this could be a domicile windows technique which could restart itself. If it keeps disappearing because of this there may well be a difficulty with your domicile windows setting up. whilst it is going press cntl-alt-del and flow to strategies, if explorer.exe isn't indexed then it incredibly is the situation, you are able to restart it from activity supervisor by utilising going to new activity and typing explorer.exe. whilst this happened to me it became out to be a difficulty with the account I had in domicile windows that became fixed by utilising coming up a clean person account and usng the hot one extremely.

All you need to do is position your cursor at the bottom of the screen until it turns into a double arrow. Then left click the mouse and drag upward.
