Wood. Becoz it grows and explores within the process. Metal is more associated with wisdom and intelligence. Not necessarily creativity.

If you're artistic and creative, you can create a work of art out of any material that you are familiar with. I have seen great works of are in wood, in steel, in stone. Depends on what material you have available and you have experience working with.

I would say nature is the ultimate creation and wood is forged more by nature while metal is forged by man. so wood.
