Today in India the most popular politicians are Sonia Gandhi. It was here immense popularity that got here the Prime Minister seat. Its just the conservative opposition that could not see a foreigner (she is Italian) holding the highest position in Government. That is why she stepped down and allowed Manmohan Singh to become President. Former PM Atal Behari Vajpayee is also very popular.
