Does it freeze with a fresh install of (God forbid,) Windows? If it does, it's probably a hardware problem. Bad RAM, CD-Rom not set correctly, (new CD-Roms are usually set to the 'Master' IDE, if you put it on the 'Secondary' connector, IT WILL cause problems,) bad BIOS settings, etc...

If you've been running Windows for a while, and the freezing is a new issue, you might have a virus or a piece of malware. You could scan your computer with the free version of Adaware. It could (still,) also be bad RAM.

So check in order;

BIOS settings
Check the Hardware settings
Test the RAM
Scan for virusi and malware
Reinstall Windows

(F.Y.I.) I own two Macs, and I can tell you that a Mac is just as picky as any PC when it comes to RAM. They DO need to be updated, and they DO crash from time to time. No computer is perfect. (Period!) I hate it when people get all 'Mac Snobbish'!

it could be due to processor overheating. but as you said that you've a new cooler fan, you better check for the system temp and the fan speed. if that doesn't help try with some other VGA card.

Just add more ram memory. 256 is maybe not enough?

try formating your computer... you may have a nasty little virus

running too many applications in the background will only make the computer slow... no... wait... check your CPU usage too in Windows Task Manager (Ctrl + Alt + Delete)
