2 things you should keep in mind: 1) you only have about 30 seconds to make an impression and convince the reader to continue. 2) you need to stand apart from the others.
to do #1, begin your cv with a powerful statement of your achievements. to do #2 you need to A)PREPARE, PREPARE, PREPARE, prepare for the telephone interview, a stress interview, answering and asking interview questions etc.B) write a cover letter after researching the company and tell them how you can help them solve their problems ....etc Always remember that what you want is not important, only what you can do for them.

I think we need to look at the changes NASCAR has made and then deduce the why.NASCAR was tying to create more BUZZ about their program. TV stations who were to air the chase format created an additional spike in interest. Whereas in making the format of having the 10/12 top drivers closer to the guy in 1st place. This is nothing less than pandering to the networks that receive revenue by airing more commercials’during each of the 12 races. By changeing the 2009 rule NASCAR can keep their options open to enhance viewing. The driver chosen may not be the best but the viewing will go up and that creates reveune.

name at top - not the words curric.... - we know what it is
address and phone number / email
2 sentance pen portrait - change it for different jobs
professional qualifiactions
career - with dates and a summary of your responsibilities, we want to see you have been doing a similar job for a while.
academic qualifications - you can sumerise, we dont care what grades they are so long as they are pass grades.
hobbies / intersts - prove to us you are an interesting person

make sure you send it in a stiff backed A4 envelope - that way yours will look better that the folded ones and will probably be opened first.
make sure you refer to it in covering letter, and include phone number in covering letter so they can ring you straight away if necessary. even if there is an application form, refer to CV and include a copy.
keep it to 2 pages max, we will get bored half way down 1st page. dont include all your jobs if you need to save space, but make sure there are no gaps in timeline.
if there are gaps, explain them.
above all remember that the CV is only 1/2 the process. This will get you through the door, but it's then up to you to win the job. and dont lie on it, when we say "so what books have you read recently?" because you put reading down as a hobby to look smart, and you go "oh.. ummm... err" you look a prat.

It depends on the job you are looking for. The format for technical jobs is completely different from the format for sales jobs. In one, they want to see what your technical skills are, and int the other they want to see your history of performance.
