Alternate fuel people, would you do it to get away from burning petroleum fuel?

Even if the alternate fuel was about the same cost?

I'm talking about using biodiesel at the pump to eliminate petrol diesel.

Yes I would.

In fact, I did. I bought a Jeep Liberty diesel just so I could begin using biodiesel in it. I'm hoping Chrysler will up the percentage of biod you can run before they void the warranty.

Most folks don't know it but the manufacturer is NOT liable for warranty issues that were caused by defective fuel. SO, if they only approve 5% and you run 20% and that causes problems they don't have to cover repairs. It is not likely 20% will cause problems because it is actually a better fuel. Higher cetane and better lubrication to the pump and injectors. But take note, in the winter biod can gel so thick that it will not go up to the pump. There is no pump in the tank so the pump on the engine has to draw the fuel up to it. If that stuff thickens it can't get through. I can' t remember what temp the 20% gels at but it should be safe down to 40 F. I haven't really checked into that yet because I"ve never found 20% biod at the pumps. I understand Willy Nelson has some stations in the south with self serve pumps at 20%. Maybe one day they will make it as far as Wisconsin.

yes I would. If I can get old frying oil or some other alternate energy source for about $1 a gallon compared to $3.50 a gallon, I would definately consider a diesel vehichle

Diesel can convert to greasel. I can't imagine the cost of grease going up as fast as petroleum given how fat our fast-food addicted country has become. There will always be a bucket of McDonald's french fry grease to burn.

Yes, I would love to own a converted deisel car.

Absolutely, even if the fuel cost more. I would do it to save the environment and reduce our dependence on foreign oil.
