Enzyme is basically a kind of catalyst found in the body and as the name applies, it speeds up a certain action, breaking down it to simpler forms.
Enzymes are found along the whole of digestive tract. There are enzymes that break down carbohydrates, fats and protein.
Digestive enzymes are mostly secreted in the intestine and not the stomach (if i recall right) and the enzymes help to break down the food to simpler form chemically, so the the broken down particles (food) can be converted to things that the body can use, such as for energy, for building of muscles, for making of new cells etc.

chewing only helps break down food. But the ones that really break up food into components that the body can absorb, need and use. Are the saliva and digestive enzymes that are produced by the body.

the first guy was right....the digestive enzymes start from the mouth itself and the rest of the alimentary canal also produec enzymes until the whole process of egestion...
