it IS because of the increase in blood flow...I am 24 weeks pregnant and man, lemme tell you...it doesn't get any better. Try sleeping with a oscillating fan to help you stay cool at night so you can sleep better. Good Luck!

Yes it is normal, i am 31 weeks and get very hot, particularly in the afternoon and at night time! I like to get a sarong, run it under the cold tap, ring it out hard and then lie with that over me. that should cool you down a bit if a fan isn't an option.

I had loads of questions when i first got pregnant and it is not always easy to find the information you want so i joined a pregnancy/baby forum (free) and found a great deal of support on there from other mums to be and have built up a good network of friends! Try it, there are some great ones out there my personal fave is www.babyworld.co.uk they are so friendly!

Good luck with your pregnancy, i hope everything goes well for you

I never sweated before I got pregnant. Now that I am 33 weeks that is all I do. I pour with sweat and constantly feel hot and sticky. I can't get any sleep because of all the big and pregnant reasons and including being hot. I am always hot. I feel like I am suffercating when I am not around air. Good luck but fall is right around the corner and hopefully you will have a nice piece of cool wheather before you deliever. I will be induced in a few weeks and it will be the day of fall. I hate being sweaty.

Good luck hun and congrats

I am right there with ya. I'll be 16 weeks on Friday.
Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting" by Heidi Murkoff. It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!

make sure you don't lie flat on your back now. The womb will have started to go up into your rib cage, which is when the heart begins to get a little squashed about. Try lying on your side.

It might be help you to cool down if you have a nice shower before bedtime. Don't have it too hot and don't take it cold. Once you have towel dried yourself, get your hubby to rub some soothing body-butter (Body Shop Vit E is my favourite) all over your body. And maybe try a fan in your room.

My Hubby put a fan in our room a few years ago. At first I hated it, but now i love to fall asleep to the gentle hum and breeze.

If you still feel uncomfortably hot - go and get your GP/Midwife to check you out in case you have blood pressure problems.

Good luck with your pregnancy and pending birth.

Do you have a fever? Lie in bed with a fan on you and just use a sheet instead of a blanket. I was always extremely tired during my pregnancies. Good luck, and I hope you get some sleep soon.

its can be because of the increase in blood flow and the fact that your body is working in over drive to help the baby but i suggest you talk to your midwife about it to check you having got a fever or anyother underlaying problem.

at 16wks your heart rate has increased and its output is 30-50% above pre-pregnancy level.
your kidneys are producing 25% more blood than normal and your uterus is getting 5times more blood pumped to it compared to bfore you pregnancy so this could explain your increase in temp.

idscuss it with your midwife.
i found "johnsons mother and baby" book very usefull when i was pregnant. it explains everything through out the pregnancy to do with the different stages you and your baby go through and it gives advice and tips of situation after birth uptil the baby is about 3yrs old. and it gives first aid and medical advice.

Info you may find interesting: in the last 4wks your baby has gained 4.5 oz
fingernails and toenails are well formed.
baby girl has about 2million eggs in her ovaries -the number will increase then diminish during pregnancy at birth she will have about 1million compared to 200,000 at age 17
ears have moved from her neck wher they started developing to correct postion
baby swallows amniotic fluid and kidneys turn it into urine- she empties her bladder approx every hr into amniotic sac
yawns and stretches in uterus
has very small eyebrows and eyelashes
fine downy hair has formed over face and body (lanugo)
sucks her thumb
skeleton is beginning to develop first as flexible cartilage then hard bones
small respiatory movements can be seen
will be about 12cm from crown to rump

yes hunni and don't forget about the new hormones going through your body and all the other amazing changes your body is going through the first couple of months you will feel like this but when your body starts to accept the changes you'll start to feel a little more comfortable but it will get hardder to put on your shoes try taking a pretty warm shower b4 you go to bed if your water is warmer then the air you'll feel nice and cool when you go to bed and keep your hair damp don't blow dry it

It is normal, I was pregnant through the winter with all the snow and that, all I wore was a cardigan because I was so hot. I would go out and cool down. It was the first winter ever that I didn't have permanently cold feet!!

Yes, it is because you have more blood flowing through your veins. It should ease in time but be glad the outdoor temp has dropped a bit! Good luck with the baby.
