Hey, it happens to us all. It's possibly overloaded with programs you have downloaded, images or documents you have saved, or cookies. You might also be getting attacked by pop-ups and infections. Turn on your pop-up blocker. I also suggest you do a full system scan regularly using Ad-aware SE Personal, Spybot Search and Destroy, or Spyware Doctor, or of course Norton Antivirus, though I imagine you have that already (they're free donwloads). The infections might be coming from websites you visit or anything you download, from songs to toolbars (stay away from the free ones).
It also freezes when you have too many windows/programs open all at once.

well most likely its cause you have too much stuff running at the startup. It may be because of a virus. I would restart in safemode and go to "RUN" and type in msconfig There you can change the settings for what starts up when your computer starts up. It might help.By the way.. to start up in safe mode while your computers turning on press F8. If all of this doesnt help try a virus scan if not you should reformat.

well go to start up, all programs, and system tools, do a disk clean up and defrag it will help you maybe you have too many movies downloaded, dont let it under 50% otherwise it will freeze.

try removing some of the cookies, it will work faster then and be less likely to freeze

click on start, then all programmes, then accessories, then sysyten tools, and then do a disk cleanup and that defragmeter. that way ur comp should speed up. also do virus checking and all that.

Sounds like its the flex capacitor...if you accelerate to 80 MPH you resolve the problem !
