It's a very personal choice and will be influenced by factors such as whether you want to use it mainly for gaming/ coursework/ internet browsing.
Some factors you may want to take into account are:
* whether you want a wireless connection
* Battery life
* DVD player/ cd burner
* amount of ram
* HD size (remember you may feel like you want a HUGE hard drive, but will you neccesarily use it?)
*number of USB ports (I recently had to buy a USB hub because I didnt have enough space for all my USB connections)
I use an IBM T30 and am quite happy with the quality - but it was probably towards the more expensive end of the scale, when it was brand new.

it really depends on your budget and what you want to do with it.. But either way Sony makes some good laptops for the price.

I would reccomend IBM (Lenovo) for the strong build quality and excellent keyboard. Apart from that just look for the features you want within your price range.

the best pc is the pc that hasnt invented yet. It is difficult, therefore, to buy it.
