The iPod nano is recommended as it's excellent for personal use when portability is required. However the downside is, it doesn't play videos..It fits into your budget well though.
The Toshiba GiGabeat is good but not much in the way of an option for a cruise or walks for that matter.
The new MuVo's from Creative have what you want and since they're somewhat varied you'll find one to fit your budget probably.
The MuVo vidz is one of the best I've seen

though it might slightly be out of your price range.

As for the iRiver option, you'll get some bang for your buck, chk

the H10 is within your budget if you purchase online and has everythn you could want.

Also some Taiwanese OEM manufacturers have some value oriented products, best to check the company out before buying one of these though.
Hope this helps!

You can buy an iPod Nano with a colour screen and 1GB memory for $149. It holds roughly 1000 songs; 25, 000 photos but DOESN'T play videos, or have radio (although that wouldn't be a problem on a cruise I think).

Also look at Creative products, they have a much broader range of mp3s.

I have a Creative and I'm really happy with it. That's what I'd reccomend.

Also have a look on Amazon.com for reviews... there should be lots there.

it rather relies upon on what MP3 participant you have. they are all distinctive, and of direction they are in a position to all injury. almost something can injury if dropped on the proper floor on the proper attitude. one in all my previous ipods (the 1st iPod mini) has been in completely good project because of fact that I have been given it a number of years in the past. it rather is paint is slightly worn, yet there are no longer any scratches or dents. As for cases and reveal protectors, they're going to help yet they easily wont provide you a reason to flow dropping it. in the adventure that your reveal scratches against something perplexing sufficient, it rather is going to possibly go in the time of the protector. additionally, with a case my theory is that it could certainly injury looking on how lose the case is, what its created from, and how actual it comes off. (No components, purely my innovations)
