how is it possible that someone that lives far away have control over your computer, what i mean is, that if something is wrong with your computer they can fix it from where ever they are!! also how can they read ur emails but doesnt necessary sit at ur computer??? is it possible that they can be the server?can we put a password so that it is not possible? and is it illigal?

Yeah its possible, crackers do this...
They find the password of your email and so they can read it...
If they find any open port on your computer and your ip, they can influence to youe computer...

But what you said fixing your computer by someone from another place, it is not known as hacking or cracking... If you give permission to that person he can have the control of your computer from another place...

No, putting password for this purpose is useless, you can avoid them by updating your softwares continuosly and installing a firewall...

When you allow someone to take over your pc to help fix any issues, they could be using the Remote Desktop feature to do it which is built into windows xp. Normally, most reputable companies will ask your permission to do this. However, you could also have a trojan horse virus on your pc that could allow someone else access to your pc without your knowledge. The best safeguard to have is an anti virus and firewall.
