Depends on who the 5 people are.....

This is quite deep!! Suppose it depends on who the people are...? Just joking! I believe that I have a purpose on earth, if I choose to die before my purpose is fulfilled, what was the use of being here in the first place? That is why the choice is not ours to make! If it's someone's time to die, who are we to decide that they should live longer? If their lives where lived right before God, they would actually look forward to "crossing over" to the next dimension...!!

It's you again! Having fun? :)
Yes, a thousand times yes!
I would much rather choose to die in order to allow five others to live!

Yes I would unless I realize they really don't deserve my help. Everyone deserves a second chance in life and I don't mind sacrificing my life for a second chance for 5 other people. It would be good to know that I have done a good deed in life and that it would create less pain than having 5 people die and having their families suffer.

They give the CMH for that.

Heroism above and beyond the call of duty. Navy gives the Navy cross, Army the bronze star. There are men of honor in the armed forces who have done and will do that again.

If you ever find yourself in a team of men who depend upon each other for their survival and sauces of the mission, you too would be willing to sacrifice your life for the good of your team. Not because its your job, or your duty, simply because they are your comrades in arms. All men become brothers under fire.

Its not limited to the military, People of character will give of themselves if the need arises.

So, like most people have said, it really depends on the circumstance. Five strangers, probably not. That is what firemen do. Five people I have met, probably not, thats it their friends job, not mine. Five of my brothers in arms, who have been put in harms way for my country, Probably.

It would depend on the people--am I saving 5 Gandhis or 5 Hitlers?

of course, if my living cost the life of 5 people i would not consider myself a good person and i would rather die than become that which i am not. Its only this one life anyway.

Sure. I'm old (39), so I've led a very long and full life. So, I'd give myself up for 5 others... maybe even less. Or maybe even for a cat or a dog.

As long as I wasn't required to suffer before I bought the farm.

This question is really hard to answer. It is always best when you are in the situation. But the thing is, I would, as long as, I know, they would live their lives in service of God afterwards. I just don't want these guys to go astray right after my sacrifice. Where's the love in that if they don't give the love shown to them back?
