I answered a question on here, amongst many other people and we all suggested the same answer, yet the asker gave us a deadfully wrong answer when he closed the question. Why do people ask questions to which they THINK they know the answer... especially when in fact they are wrong? Does this not just open them up to public humiliation and display an arrogant ignorance of the facts??

Don't feel bad. Maybe the asker could not ask the question the way he wanted it to come out. Some people are unable to express themselves properly given a limited space provided for asking the questions. Plus, some of those who post questions here only want to see the reaction of the majority of those who'll answer their question but yes, they also use this venue to validate their own views about certain issues. Don't feel bad, it happens.

Everybody is afraid to be wrong to some extent, but also, everybody is wrong at some time or another. There's just nothing you can do about it. So it's easier not to be too afraid, or else you would be washed away by our own fears and unable to do anything anymore!

Perhaps this whole site, to them, is a "lark" or perhaps they don't care about the truth or being right? I don't know.
