Steven Gerrard would have won the world cup on his own if Lampard wasn;t in the team. Drop him Gerrard in the middle and have a national petition to drop Fat Frank and his shaved chest.

I am not denying that Lamps is a very good player and has his strengths. But the thing is there is onloy room for one attacking central midfielder in a balanced 442 and Gerrard is better.

Re: the world cup, they were supposed to share the work load yet Lampard very rarely tracked back. Gerrard went forward a handful of times because of this and scored two goals!!!!

England need gerrard in his best position to make use of him as the best midfielder int he world (arguably), and to do that we need to drop lamps.

ENgland only played 451 to fit Lamps in, the whole teams formation to fit in a misfiring midfield who was off form. He s a good player but Gerrard wins hands down.

Unless Gerrard is an octopus, I doubt he would have won the World Cup on his own. It is a pity, just days after he remarked that people should stop trumpeting England's ability, her fans are still having that chip on their shoulder.

Whilst Lampard had a poor tournament, it doesn't at all mean, he is a poor player. Every player has a bad run, even Gerrard had one. (He actually gifted Chelsea the Carling Cup). Lampard will reemerge as a great player.

Dropping him, is a dumb idea. I'm sure there will be smiles in Rome, Berlin, Amsterdam and Paris, if he is no longer chosen.

I think you have too much confidence in Gerrard. Although he is a great player so is Lampard. And before you say it I am not a Chelsea fan! Lampard has not hit form for England yet but when he does all of the Lampard bashers will be eating their words! I think that now he doesn't have the worry of whether or not he should stay back he will be able to play his more natural game and cause some problems for the opposition.

Finally someone with brains! You’re absolutely right, Lampard is just a puppet forced into “big players” by his father and uncle, he hasn’t really shown a good play nor for England nor for Chelsea, the middle will work more then fine without him in it, England has pretty good players in the middle that can do really good!!!

Your petition is the right thing for England – just tell me where to sign?
