The internet is the system of cables by which all those computers are connected. The World Wide Web is a series of files on computers all over the world that follow a specific protocal to display web pages when read by a web browser.

The Internet is the system. The World Wide Web is the content on that system.

By the way, if you use the word, The Web, you are a dweeb who picked up the term from those stupid movies back in the 1990's. Nobody used that term....ever. It was manufactured by those idiot film makers and picked up by large numbers of people who were too stupid to know any better.

Contrary to some common usage, the Internet and the World Wide Web are not synonymous:

The Internet is a collection of interconnected computer networks, linked by copper wires, fiber-optic cables, wireless connections, etc.;

The Web is a collection of interconnected documents, linked by hyperlinks and URLs. The World Wide Web is accessible via the Internet, along with many other services including e-mail, file sharing and others

To me, the web (www) is just one part of the Internet.

However, i have see an argument that the net is the interconnected network ( hardware) and the web is interconnected documents.

Some people use the 2 words interchangeably; others don't. And it seems to me that the definitions of the net are still fluctuating.

this will tell you WAY more than you want to know.

But a better reference might be:

It discusses the relation between the two right at the top in simple terms.
