I would like to say you should stand up to your boss but in the real world of course i doubt that i would be brave enough, we are not allowed mobiles but we have not had to sign anything.
I just keep mine well hidden in my bag and check messages etc in the loo.
If i was you Lisa i would set the phone to vibrate and keep it in my knickers, then sit there all day with a smile on my face as i keep dialing my mobile number.

I guess from the employers point of view he gets annoyed with people who spend time on their mobiles chatting and texting in company time.
I think it's a shame that you have been forced to sign an agreement. It would make for better relations if employees were 'asked' not to use mobiles during working hours.
I think it is wrong to assume that everyone will take advantage of the situation by wasting company time on their phones... If they do, well Then by all means the company have a right to 'Warn' ...... lets do something wrong before we are penalised.

where i work is really cr**. we are not allowed to have our mobiles on or have personal calls through the work phone. i leave my phone on all the time just put it on silent. if they cant hear it you cant get in trouble and they arent allowed to go through your private things EG; your bag.
plus what if someone needed to get hold of you asap they would be screwed and it could be importnat. you cant get bullied into signing anything if you dont want to sign it then dont. and you cant really get the sack unless it is a fair reason otherwise you can take them to court for unfair dismissal.

Depends what job you do, if you don't sign the contract then you can't get into trouble but loads of companies have this policy now. If your in a vehicle i think you need your phone for emergencies but not using it for safety reasons is maybe what they are implying. Why don't you ask why they are doing this and suggest other alternatives, if they are a good company they should welcome their staff input.

I would think you need to contact someone, Citizens advice or something. It sounds to me that you and fellow workers are signing things under duress. I would consider Joining a Union if your not in one. Talk to fellow workers and contact the GMB who deal with office workers. Membership is Around 2.50 a week but there are lots of legal benefits you can use not all work related.

If it's company policy then you have to sign anyway, but while at work you should be working and not texting/phoning so what's the problem? Just email and IM your friends all day instead!

ask the a CAB ouside of the original contract why should you be forced to sign anything. if the original contract adhered you to comply with all company rules at managements discretion then i dont think theres anything you can do except, make sneaky calls. rules are there to be broken. scumbags these days expect you do work all the hours under the sun for crappy wages

I think at the end of the day you are going to have to sign it. If you don't they will just find a legal way to get rid of you. My advice, sign it and put up with it, some employers are so wrong !!!!

Not sure about the law part of the question but hey, whos running your company? Hitler?
I see nothing wrong with having your phone on in the workplace so long as its on silent.
As for the car thing, why not so long as its handsfree?
Authority goes to some peoples heads.
I reckon you and your workmates should get a petition going and leave it on his desk!
Got no time for bullying!!!

i offered my sony ericsson c905 from ebay for £250 in January (cost could have got here down by utilising then it became around £370 in shops) basically confirm you purchase from a competent broking and consistently examine the feedback
