I believe that if more people invested more time into their MARRIAGES than their weddings, there would be alot less divorce. We are a country of "show", better houses, better cars, and better wedding ceremonies. Let's get this into perspective here and concentrate on what happens AFTER the ceremony.

That's true, and I think the people who spend more are more materialistic, rather than thinking of the things that really matter.

Materialistic people are not bad people, but they have that sort of a personality, which I think is why the marriages don't last.

I want my wedding day to be perfect, but I don't need to spend a lorry-load of cash for that, just so long as I'm with the man I love and who I want to be with for the rest of my life, that will be perfect enough for me!

I just think that people with money know that they can afford the wedding and rush the fact to get married. Me im waiting for the 7 year common law marriage before i sign anything! Divorce is to common!

True! It's like they want to show off to everyone that they are not single anymore, because they were desperate to get married. It's more for the outside world than for themselves. I don't see any point in weddings at all. I couldn't get married, I'd run away, 'cos I couldn't stand all those people looking at me. I hate being the centre of attention.

Thats true. Those who spend less pay more attention to things which are more useful. Expensive wedding is usually a result of lust and show off.

Some people just forget that it's not about the day ie a Wedding, but that it's about marraige. They are too completly diffent things. Just because you spend a fortune on "The Day" doesn't mean you are any more likely to work at your marraige

well i think that after the honeymoon, when they realized they've spent all their money on just one day, they probably begin to realize how stupid they both are and with each unwilling to take the blame they start hating each other, then they argue ..then they think ... whats the best way of getting what little the other have left ..whammy ..a divorce settlement!!! there u go....

Maybe the people who spend more (and have to pay for it themselves) get into debt which is not the best start to married life.
