if me and my bro did time of your life by green day and id play the guitar and he'd sing but would it sound ok if it was just a guitar and somone singing or would the song sound kinda funny without any other instruments or w/e

That would be the acoustic version of the song. I haven't really got a chance to listen to that tho', but if the tempo of the original is faster with the drum and bass, you might want to consider slowing down the tempo in this acoustic version.
I can't really tell you how to do it here, it just need practices. Sometimes a twist or change in the melody might make the acoustic one sounds smoother and better.
Best way to know if it sounds good is have it taped down and listen to it. Then,as an audience,you will have a better picture of where to improve.

maybe you should get a drummer. but it could sound alright. =]. but i would feel a little weird. =/
