as long as he's eating and pooping, there's no problem. i think that parents expect these early days to be horrible and sleepless.
there's no reason to have the baby on a schedule. feed him when he's hungry and change him when he's wet. other than that just enjoy the sleep. i promise it won't last, most babies go through a period of time when their internal clock is being set. be really consistent with his bed time and let him direct the rest. i wish you luck!

I also have an 8 week old baby she only feeds 4-5 hourly during the day and sleeps all night. She is putting weight on so im not worried. I have another 2 and I seem to be comparing how they fed to her and they were alot greedier.Generally when they are hungry they will let you know. To put your mind at ease why dont you ask your Health Visitor for advise but i dont think its anything to worry about. Good Luck.

Those first few weeks are stressful.. get him checked out with your GP to put your mind at rest then always just let him sleep - waking him will only make him drowsy or grumpy and interupt him getting the sleep he needs..

My Cousin's girl slept MOST of the time until she was about 6 months.. and her daughter is an absolute joy and perfectly normal.. Her midwife told her to count her blessings and so should you..

As for feeding try sampling different bottles but more importantly teats - there are many shapes on offer and it may be he has a preference.

He will wake when he is hungry - just now his wee body is working overdrive at an alarming rate to connect neurons etc etc - wee mite just trying to save his energy..

New parenthood is exhausting so you try and nap when he does - in a few months time you'll be lamenting this time!

OH! Just thought too - up until 6 months babies find it hard to breath properly through their mouths - they use their nose more so maybe if his nose has been blocked this is what is putting him off his feeds? Offer him a drink of cooled boiled water too and look for signs of dehydration.. if feeding him give him chance to come up for air..know that make him windy but just wind him well after..

I used to wake our little boy up to feed him when it was "time". The health visitor said that we should just wait for him to wake up as he'll wake when he's hungry. We did this, within days he was sleeping through the night! LOVELY!!! (he was 7 weeks old).
Bottom line......let him decide when he gets fed. If it's every 6 hours then fine. So long as he's gaining weight steadily there's nothing to worry about. If you're still worried go and talk to your health worker at your local clinic. That's what they're there for.

Let him sleep - do not make him drink milk unless he is asking for it. He needs the sleep to recover properly and he doesn't need the overload of milk in his stomach to make the job harder. So long as he does want milk every 6 hours -or even more - and hasn't gone off it completely and is getting better you have nothing to worry about. His feeds will also be wider apart then they were say a month ago.

Try a different nipple on the bottle. My daughter would only use the clear ones.

If I remember right, around that age, they did stop eating as often. I believe it may be normal. If he is full don't force him to eat.

Just keep an eye on him and if he stops eating completely, get him to the doctor. Otherwise, they tend to eat on their own schedule as they grow. If you notice weight loss then I would start to worry.

Since he has been sick, I would let him sleep since being ill can be hard on little ones.

Let a sleeping baby sleep! By 8 you don't have to worry about him sleeping through a feeding. He can eat when he wakes up.

Babies go through growth spurts that make them exhausted, if he is alert when he is awake, a good healthy weight and generally well than dont worry and let him sleep. If hes just had a cold he may just not feel like eating and jabs often knock them off. Like i say if he is generally alert and happy when awake then dont worry this is normal. You will probably find he will make up for it and start eating like a horse soon!!!

Don't worry as long as he's thriving, and be grateful he's giving you a little extra peace by sleeping through abit. By about six weeks to three months old babies usually do settle more into a pattern of routine for sleeping and waking up.

He should be fine.
We were told by our health visitor not to let our daughter sleep too long past her feeding time.
When she was eight weeks she started doing marathon sleeps.
It only lasted a week or so but she was on a four hour feeding schedule, we were told to wake her at five hours at the latest to feed
