That depends if there is a victim involved. If your morals don't recognize what is justice then the law must step in and stop your act.
Some religions force young girls to marry against their will.
Drug dealers sell drugs that, kill, ruin lives, destroy families.

Society has to make laws based on moral and acceptable standards. Otherwise Bigamy would still exist. Adults would have sex with teens. Etc.

It may not be perfect, but this is part of the duty of all citizens. To make and draw out acceptable behaviors. As long as we live in a democracy we are the ones who choose these laws.

the law here as in other places is goverend by the moral issues of the day and societies moral values and codes of decency that are accepted,at large, by the voting public.It does not matter that laws are pervassive and intrusive at times, only that they serve the better good of the public. those that we elect and place in public office, are there to protect our code of moral values, as determined by the changing times that we live in. As mores change, so do laws.that is democracy and like it or not, the majority rules, in a free society!

well most of the times its people vs people rather than state vs people and i disagree strongly when it comes to domestic violence.
