According to a National Geographic poll, out of the 32 countries surveyed Turkey was the only one where people were more likely to reject evolution.
I find this both disturbing and hilarious.
Disturbing because America is supposed to be the leader of the free world yet much of it is stuck in the Dark Ages.
Hilarious because I'm not an American.

well that helps explain so much
Did you know there dumbing down the kiddies as well?

Americans are far from alone in the world, but from the perspective of many young Americans, we might as well be. Most young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 demonstrate a limited understanding of the world, and they place insufficient importance on the basic geographic skills that might enhance their knowledge.

Young Americans answer about half (54 percent) of all the survey questions correctly. But by and large, majorities of young adults fail at a range of questions testing their basic geographic literacy.

Only 37% of young Americans can find Iraq on a map—though U.S. troops have been there since 2003.
6 in 10 young Americans don't speak a foreign language fluently.
20% of young Americans think Sudan is in Asia. (It's the largest country in Africa.)
48% of young Americans believe the majority population in India is Muslim. (It's Hindu—by a landslide.)
Half of young Americans can't find New York on a map.
These results suggest that young people in the United States—the most recent graduates of our educational system—are unprepared for an increasingly global future. Far too many lack even the most basic skills for navigating the international economy or understanding the relationships among people and places that provide critical context for world events.

About the Survey

The findings presented are the results of a face-to-face survey conducted from December 17, 2005, to January 20, 2006, by Roper Public Affairs and Media, a part of GfK NOP. This study is the latest in a series of surveys commissioned by the National Geographic Society.

First a National Geographic poll ? Aren't they a little bias ? Second are you just trying to bash Americans cause they don't agree with you and you think evolution is cutting edge science ? So what. I agree America clings sometimes to a fault to there puritanical roots and heritage. So what. I'm sure your little homeland where ever it may be could be faulted for falling victim to the boundary stones of your founding fathers as well. I'm guessing some strain from the fourth book of Noah still trying to establish yourself as " genetically supreme" and abusing the science of evolution to do it. Are you jealous of a nation with some roots in religious heritage ? Some semblance of man apart from mere reason ? Does this scare you ? Does it offend you that some cultures developed apart from just reason but that doesn't make them void reason ? Or, is it that you need a small box and faith complicates that ? I'm not saying America is perfect but a prefect science is anti hypothesis, which voids the need for science.

do no longer worry lots sweety, we will not like it, yet all of those are regular tactics of any language and there is no longer something we are able to do approximately it; ever questioned how the favourite written device for theEnglish language got here to be in the 1st place? do a splash learn on it, you will easily discover it thrilling. I understand this study, why don't you. Can science make sense and give an exact order to evolution and development of humans... or any species? No. What happened before that, and what started the big bang?

There are many questions yet to be answered. To put your faith in a theory that is not proven is the same as putting your faith in a creationist claim. Once people believe one idea and except it as truth, they stop questioning and learning. I am glad America still questions these things.

Theory's are not fact.

I don't find that surprising. Ater all, there is no way to PROVE the theory of evolution. And we have certainly seen multiple examples of scientists reversing themselves on earlier beliefs about prehistoric times. So, while you may think that evolution probably makes sense, there is no guarantee that tomorrow scientists will find the missing link that proves we evolved from aliens riding in on the asteroid that destroyed the dinosaurs...or whatever.

It is scary seeing how natural selection is such a given.

I think most of us are indoctrinated with some form of religious belief as a young child.

Thank you for providing the link to us. It's annoying when people don't do that after they claim something. I think humanity is on a downward spiral again.
